WELCOME to Calvary Sayulita!

Below you can read a little about how we got started, and above you can see some fotos of both the local community and the ministry here at Calvary Sayulita. Enjoy!

In the book of Acts the Lord called Philip away from an exciting and growing ministry to the desert to minister to one man. While we are by no means in the desert (quite the opposite!), the Lord did take us away from an exciting and growing ministry to begin a new work where there was no Christian church – a spiritual desert if you will.

Sayulita is unlike any other place we have lived or visited in Mexico. It is a quaint surf spot / fishing village / vacation town that attracts Mexicans, Canadians, Europeans, and anyone else looking for some sun and relaxation. So did the Lord really call us to such a cool place like Sayulita? I asked myself, and the Lord, that same question. He gave me Isaiah 42:10 for an answer:

Sing to the Lord a new song, and His praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you coastlands and you inhabitants of them!

So through a series of events that only God could orchestrate, we came here, met people, started a kids Bible class which some parents began attending, so we rented a small store front and started an adults Bible study, put on a VBS in the Summer, did a surf movie outreach with our friends from Walking on Water in the Fall, then on November 1, 2009 we held our first Sunday service!

As our sign on the front of the church says, we are here to know JESUS and to make HIM known. We look forward to watching, and being a part of JESUS building His church here in Sayulita! Come join us as we sing a new song and praise His name from the coastlands!

Who We Are

Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only to their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

We believe the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ's Agape love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

We believe worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.

We believe worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.

We believe worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshipped.

We believe worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.

How To Know God

1. Recognize that you’re a sinner.

First, you must admit your spiritual need: "There is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10). We can't make excuses or blame others and our circumstances for our actions. "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

2. Recognize that JESUS CHRIST died on the cross for you.

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God..." (I Peter 3:18). Jesus paid the price for your sin. The Apostle Paul said, "...the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).

3. Repent of your sins.

The word "repent" means "to change your direction." The Bible tells us, "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19). God commands us to repent. You must be willing to turn away from the things that displease God.

4. Accept JESUS as your Savior.

Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). It is essential that you come to Jesus as you are. Don't try to "clean up your life" before you come to God. Instead, receive Him and allow Him to do the "cleansing." Jesus said, "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out" (John 6:37).

If you live in or are visiting Sayulita, we invite you to come and worship with us at Calvary Sayulita. If you have just accepted JESUS as your Savior, or if you have any questions about your relationship with Jesus, please click here to send us an email. We'd be happy to hear from you!
